The
Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, in collaboration with the
Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project (SLDTP), is continuing efforts to
support innovative solutions developed during its recent AI and Blockchain
Hackathon, extending engagement beyond winning entries.
Following
the announcement of winners, the Ministry committed to working with non-winning
teams whose ideas demonstrated strong potential, with the aim of refining and
scaling their solutions for possible national deployment.
As
part of this initiative, the Ministry has maintained engagement with selected
teams and recently hosted two of them, Team Salone Vault and Team Kenema, for
technical presentations. Both teams showcased AI-powered document vault systems
designed to enhance secure digital document management.
According
to the Ministry, the two solutions were developed along similar lines and are
currently under consideration for further development into a national platform.
The proposed systems are expected to benefit from technical guidance,
mentorship, and institutional support to improve scalability and alignment with
national digital transformation objectives.
The
initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Ministry to strengthen
innovation ecosystems and translate hackathon outputs into practical,
real-world digital solutions that can support governance and service delivery.
