Ghana’s National
Communications Authority (NCA) has published its consolidated response to
queries received from prospective applicants seeking spectrum licences for the
provision of mobile broadband services, including 5G.
The responses relate to the
Request for Applications (RFA) for spectrum licences in the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz
and 3 GHz mid-band frequencies, which are expected to support the expansion of
advanced mobile broadband services across the country.
According to the NCA, the
consolidated response addresses written queries submitted by interested
applicants following the pre-application briefing held on July 27, 2026. The
document also provides amendments, corrections and clarifications arising from the
submissions and the Authority’s review of the licensing process.
The regulator has advised
prospective applicants to review the consolidated response alongside the RFA
document and take note of all revised requirements, amendments and updates to
the licensing timetable.
As part of the changes, the
deadline for submitting applications has been extended from Thursday, August 6,
2026, to Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The NCA said subsequent
timelines in the RFA process have also been adjusted accordingly.
The publication of the
consolidated response forms part of the NCA’s efforts to ensure transparency
and clarity throughout the spectrum licensing process as Ghana prepares to
expand access to next-generation connectivity services.
The NCA, Ghana’s electronic
communications sector regulator, is mandated to license and regulate
communications activities and services in the country under the National
Communications Authority Act, 2008 (Act 769).
