Google unveils Pixel 11 devices with new Gemini-powered and accessibility features

Google has unveiled its new Pixel 11 devices, introducing a range of artificial intelligence-powered features designed to make smartphones more intuitive, useful and accessible.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the new features during the company’s Made by Google event, pointing to deeper integration of Gemini intelligence across the Pixel 11 lineup.

Among the new capabilities is Rambler, a voice-input feature built into Gboard that is designed to interpret natural speech and organise users’ thoughts into structured drafts. The feature can be used across applications including Gmail and Google Docs, allowing users to move from voice notes to more organised written content.

Google is also introducing Magic Capture, a camera feature designed to automatically identify and select the best images from a scene. The technology is intended to help users capture important moments without requiring them to manually review multiple photographs.

Another new feature, HiLight, uses an ambient glow around the camera flash to discreetly notify users when important contacts are attempting to reach them while the device is placed face down. The feature is aimed at allowing users to remain engaged in meetings, meals and other activities without constantly checking their phones.

Accessibility is also a key focus of the latest Pixel and Google software updates, with the company introducing a sign-to-text capability for Gboard and Live Transcribe.

Developed in partnership with members of the Deaf community, the feature is designed to help people who use American Sign Language (ASL) communicate more easily through their phones, including with people who do not use sign language.

Pichai said the new features reflect Google's broader effort to make technology more useful while reducing the amount of time people need to spend interacting with their devices.

He expressed hope that the latest AI and accessibility capabilities would enable users to spend less time on their phones and more time engaging with the people and activities that matter to them.
