MTN Uganda has intensified efforts to improve access to healthcare in Maddu, Gomba District, through activities focused on maternal and child health, digital healthcare and support for local health facilities under its Y’ello Care initiative.

The two-day community engagement was held under this year’s Y’ello Care theme, “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community,” bringing together healthcare professionals, community leaders, partner organisations and MTN employee volunteers to address healthcare needs in the area.

The initiative focused on improving access to healthcare services, promoting digital health solutions and strengthening the capacity of local healthcare providers. MTN Uganda also supported health facilities with essential medical equipment and facilitated the delivery of healthcare services to community members.

MTN Uganda Managing Director for MoMo, Phrase Lubega, said sustainable progress requires collective action from organisations, communities and other stakeholders.

“Progress is not built by one person or corporation, progress happens when we have a shared responsibility,” Lubega said.

The activities were implemented in collaboration with Mengo Hospital, CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital, Zuri Health and clinicPesa, among other partners.

The partnerships brought together medical expertise, digital health solutions and community engagement to support healthcare delivery, particularly for mothers, children and families.

MTN Uganda said the initiative also highlighted the role of employee volunteerism and collaboration with community leaders and healthcare workers in addressing local development needs.
