The Minister of
Communication and Relations with Institutions and Government Spokesman, Dr.
Bacary Sarr has participatedin an intercommission session of the National
Assembly devoted to reviewing the proposed legislation aimed at reinforcing the
country’s digital sovereignty.
The session brought together
the Committee on Culture and Communication and the Law Committee to examine the
draft law on the protection of Critical Information Infrastructures (CII) and
digital security. The process is being led by the Ministry of
Telecommunications and Digital Affairs.
Among the issues addressed
by the proposed legislation are the local hosting of public-sector data,
continuity of essential services and the protection of personal data.
The measures are expected to
strengthen the country’s ability to protect critical digital infrastructure and
improve resilience against threats that could disrupt essential services or
undermine trust in Senegal’s digital ecosystem.
The draft law is being
positioned as a key component of Senegal’s digital sovereignty agenda and is
aligned with the objectives of the New Deal Technologique and the Senegal 2050
National Transformation Agenda.
The ongoing parliamentary
examination represents another stage in the development of a national framework
designed to strengthen digital security while supporting Senegal’s broader
digital transformation objectives.
