The National Bank of Rwanda
(NBR), in partnership with RSwitch, financial institutions and the Ministry of
ICT and Innovation, has stepped up public awareness efforts to promote the use
of digital payments and the eKash platform.
The campaign was held in
Nyabugogo as part of efforts to educate residents on the benefits and practical
use of digital payment services.
The initiative focused on
demonstrating how digital payments can enable users to send and receive money
quickly and conveniently across different financial service providers and
mobile network operators.
The campaign brought
together representatives from the central bank, payment infrastructure
providers, financial institutions and government to engage directly with
members of the public and encourage greater adoption of digital financial
services.
Through platforms such as
eKash, users can transact across participating financial institutions and
mobile networks, supporting greater interoperability within Rwanda’s digital
financial system.
NBR and its partners said
continued public education will be important to ensuring that citizens
understand and confidently use digital payment services as Rwanda advances its
cashless and digitally enabled economy.
