MTN South Sudan has
reaffirmed its commitment to expanding digital connectivity and ICT access for
young people, with Chief Executive Officer Mapula Bodibe calling for an ICT hub
to be established in every state of the country.
Bodibe made the commitment
during the Youth Dialogue and Engagement Event, organised by the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and
Sports at the University of Juba as part of the International Youth Day 2026
extension.
The dialogue brought
together government representatives, UNDP officials and youth leaders to
discuss how young South Sudanese can drive innovation, develop solutions to
national challenges and contribute to the country’s sustainable development.
Speaking at the engagement,
Bodibe highlighted MTN South Sudan’s investment in expanding digital access,
noting that the company currently provides population coverage of approximately
85 percent.
“One of my priorities and
one of my jobs is to make sure that we reach the whole country,” she said.
Bodibe also highlighted
MTN’s growing network of ICT Hubs, which provide young people and communities
with access to digital tools, training and opportunities to develop technology
skills.
She said MTN currently has
ICT Hubs operating in eight states and wants to extend the initiative to all
states across South Sudan.
“Today, we have ICT hubs in
8 of the states, and we want to make sure that every state in South Sudan has
an ICT hub,” she said.
The expansion of ICT Hubs is
intended to complement broader connectivity investments by creating physical
spaces where young people can access technology, develop digital skills,
collaborate and explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
