The Communications
Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) is holding its Second
Ordinary Meeting of the Economic Regulation Committee (ERC) for 2026/27 in
Gaborone, Botswana, to advance regional cooperation on economic regulation
across Southern Africa.
The committee is considering
regional approaches to broadband pricing, roaming and the collection of
information from the information and communications technology (ICT),
broadcasting and postal sectors.
The discussions are intended
to support efforts to monitor sector performance, assess affordability and
guide regulatory responses to developments across the Southern African
Development Community (SADC) communications markets.
The meeting’s programme will
continue with the Smart Africa–CRASA Workshop on the Implementation of
Sub-regional Roaming Agreements and the One Africa Network, scheduled for
October 20–22.
The workshop will bring
together policymakers, regulators and other stakeholders to share knowledge and
strengthen collaboration towards affordable and seamless cross-border
communications.
The Economic Regulation
Committee is scheduled to reconvene on Friday, October 23, to conclude its
deliberations and agree on the way forward.
