Nigeria’s National
Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has launched the National
Digital Literacy Dashboard to track progress, strengthen coordination and
support data-driven decisions in the country’s digital literacy drive, as
reported training achievements reach 2,769,512 over the last three years.
The dashboard covers 252
active reporting organisations across all 774 Local Government Areas and 14,664
communities, according to NITDA.
Cisco leads the list of
contributors, with 1,073,604 reported training achievements, followed by NITDA
with 960,424 and Meta Platforms Inc. with 333,816.
Other contributors include
Imo Digital City Limited, the Sokoto State Ministry of Innovation and Digital
Economy, the Bureau for ICT and Digital Economy, digital development agencies
in Jigawa, Kaduna and Zamfara, and the Centre for Information Technology and
Development (CITAD).
NITDA said the dashboard
would help identify gaps, reduce duplication and improve resource allocation as
Nigeria works towards its digital literacy targets of 70 per cent by 2027 and
95 per cent by 2030.
The initiative aligns with
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priority areas of accelerating diversification
through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing and
innovation.
