Ghanaian technology startup Tralo Technologies Ltd says more than 3,300 businesses have registered on its digital business-management platform since its launch in July 2026, recording more than GH¢100 million in total economic activity by October.

The activity recorded through the platform includes approximately GH¢12.2 million in sales, GH¢84 million in inventory and GH¢3 million in expenses, according to the company. Tralo clarified that the figures represent business activity recorded on the platform, not revenue earned by the startup.

More than 1,200 businesses were meaningfully active on the platform by October, while its mobile application reached No. 8 on Ghana's App Store Business charts within two weeks of launch.

Tralo is developing what it describes as a complete operating system for African trade, bringing together sales records, inventory management, expenses, payments and other business operations in a single digital platform.

The company said its approach was shaped by engagement with small and medium-sized businesses in Ghana, where it found that many merchants wanted to adopt digital tools but had concerns about the security and control of their business data.

“One of the most consistent barriers Tralo observed was trust,” the company said, identifying the central concern as: “if I put my real business data into this platform, what happens to it, and who controls it?”

That insight informed its decision to make the platform free to use, allowing businesses to test its capabilities without a financial commitment.

“The decision to make Tralo free to use was not primarily a growth strategy. It was a trust strategy,” the company said.

Tralo said its platform is designed to accommodate different business-recording patterns, including merchants who record transactions immediately, at the end of the day, weekly or when preparing to restock.

According to the company, many business software products assume users will record transactions in real time and consistently, an approach that may not reflect the operating conditions of many African small and medium-sized businesses.

“Tralo is built to accommodate different recording rhythms without losing coherence,” the company said. “Whether a business records daily, weekly or whenever they are preparing for market day, the platform should still give them a useful picture of what is happening in their business.”

The company said its longer-term ambition extends beyond helping individual merchants organise their operations to providing digital infrastructure for organisations working with networks of businesses.

It has begun pursuing enterprise contracts involving tailored deployments for organisations that need customised workflows and configurations to support businesses within their networks. These include lenders, distributors and trade associations seeking a shared operational picture of the businesses they serve.

Through Tralo Pay, powered by Paystack, merchants can also accept digital payments through the platform.

The business operates a freemium model, with a free core platform and revenue opportunities through enterprise contracts, premium subscriptions and value-added services.

Tralo said its strategy is to establish the operating layer first before expanding into related services as adoption, partnerships and customer needs support that development.

“A digital economy cannot be built on payments alone,” the company said, adding that reliable records, useful data, accessible software and systems that reflect how commerce happens are also necessary.

The company acknowledged that registration numbers and early transaction records do not establish long-term adoption, saying the key test is whether businesses continue using the platform and find sufficient value to make it part of their daily operations.

“The consequential question is whether businesses keep using the platform, deepen their reliance on it and find enough consistent value to make it part of how they work,” it said.

Tralo Technologies Ltd is a Ghanaian technology company developing a digital business-management platform to help businesses manage their operations. Its longer-term ambition is to build digital operating infrastructure connecting businesses and services across African trade.

“Trust is not a feature. It is the foundation,” the company said.
