The Worldwide Universities
Network (WUN) has appointed Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of
the University of Ghana, as its new Chair, in recognition of her academic
leadership and contributions to higher education and global research collaboration.
In announcing the
appointment, WUN highlighted Professor Amfo’s combination of scholarly
excellence, institutional leadership, and commitment to advancing the role of
universities in addressing complex global challenges.
The University of Ghana has
welcomed the appointment, describing it as a reflection of Professor Amfo’s
distinguished leadership and growing international influence in higher
education governance.
According to the University,
her tenure as Chair is expected to strengthen collaboration among member
institutions within the network and deepen the impact of joint research
initiatives aimed at addressing global development priorities.
WUN brings together leading
research-intensive universities worldwide to foster collaboration, enhance
academic exchange, and promote research that responds to societal needs across
different regions.
Professor Amfo’s appointment
is expected to further position African higher education institutions within
global research partnerships while reinforcing the University of Ghana’s role
in international academic networks.
The University expressed
confidence that her leadership will contribute to expanding the network’s
impact and strengthening its mission of leveraging research to benefit
communities globally.
