The Senegalese Agency for
Space Studies (ASES) has reaffirmed its commitment to international
collaboration in the space sector following a high-level meeting with the
Egyptian diplomatic mission in Senegal.
On June 22, 2026, the
Director General of ASES, Maram Kaire, welcomed Khaled Aref for discussions
aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in space science and technology.
The meeting focused on
opportunities to deepen collaboration between Senegal and Egypt in the space
sector, including the development of joint initiatives and partnerships that
could support research, innovation, capacity building and the application of space
technologies for socioeconomic development.
Both parties explored areas
of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger ties
between the two countries through scientific and technological cooperation. The
engagement reflects growing efforts by African nations to leverage partnerships
to advance national space capabilities and expand the use of space-based
solutions in addressing development challenges.
The visit also highlights
the increasing importance of South-South cooperation within Africa and between
African and Arab nations in promoting knowledge exchange, technical expertise
and innovation in emerging sectors such as space.
As Senegal continues to
advance its space ambitions through ASES, collaboration with countries that
possess established space programmes is expected to play a key role in
strengthening local capabilities and supporting the country's long-term
scientific and technological development objectives.
