Senegal’s Minister of
Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf Diouf, has held a working
visit to Yas Senegal as part of ongoing engagements with key stakeholders in
the country’s telecommunications and digital ecosystem.
The visit formed part of the
minister’s consultations with strategic players in the sector and provided an
opportunity to gain deeper insight into the vision, structure and growth
ambitions of the AXIAN Group and its subsidiary, Yas Senegal.
Discussions focused on the
challenges facing the telecommunications sector and the importance of aligning
industry efforts with the government’s broader digital transformation
objectives. Minister Diouf emphasized that the successful implementation of Senegal’s
New Deal Technologique requires collective commitment from all stakeholders
toward common goals, including digital inclusion, innovation, expanded digital
usage and improved public services.
Yas Senegal reiterated its
commitment to supporting the government’s digital agenda and positioning itself
as a strategic partner in the implementation of the New Deal Technologique. The
company highlighted its continued investments in telecommunications
infrastructure, innovation, digital services and human capital development.
Several key issues were
addressed during the meeting, including improving connectivity across the
country, increasing access to digital services and equipment, promoting digital
adoption, strengthening skills development, advancing digital inclusion and enhancing
user protection within the digital environment.
The minister underscored the
importance of sustained collaboration between government institutions and
telecommunications operators in building a digital ecosystem that is
innovative, competitive and responsive to the needs of citizens and businesses.
According to the Ministry of
Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, the visit reflects the government’s
determination to strengthen partnerships across the sector and accelerate the
coordinated implementation of projects under the New Deal Technologique
framework.
Senegal continues to pursue
an ambitious digital transformation agenda aimed at leveraging technology to
drive economic growth, improve service delivery and expand opportunities for
citizens across the country.
