Senegal’s
Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf has undertaken
a working visit to WAW Telecom as part of ongoing engagements with key
stakeholders in Senegal’s telecommunications sector, aimed at accelerating the
country’s digital transformation under the New Deal Technologique framework.
The
visit provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the development of
digital infrastructure, improvement of connectivity, and the expansion of
innovative digital services within a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
During
the engagement, WAW Telecom officials presented the company’s strategic vision,
operational priorities, and future development plans, highlighting its role in
supporting the growth of Senegal’s national digital ecosystem. The discussions
also addressed key sector challenges, including network expansion, service
quality enhancement, and broader access to digital services across the country.
The
Minister emphasized that the success of the New Deal Technologique depends on
coordinated action among all stakeholders in the sector, underscoring the
importance of collective mobilization to achieve inclusive connectivity,
strengthen digital adoption, and reinforce national digital sovereignty.
He
further noted that sustained collaboration between the government and telecom
operators is essential to unlocking investment opportunities, fostering
innovation, and expanding digital services that benefit citizens, businesses,
and communities nationwide.
The
Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining continuous
dialogue with industry players, with the objective of creating a competitive
and investment-friendly environment that supports the acceleration of Senegal’s
digital transformation agenda.
