MTN Group has appointed
Jerry Soko as Chief Executive Officer of MTN Eswatini, effective 1 July 2026,
as the telecommunications company continues to strengthen its leadership team
in support of its Ambition 2030 strategy.
The appointment forms part
of a series of leadership changes announced by the Group during the first half
of 2026, aimed at reinforcing executive capacity as MTN advances its strategic
priorities in connectivity, fintech and digital infrastructure.
MTN Group President and CEO
Ralph Mupita said Soko had successfully restored momentum at MTN Eswatini
during his seven-month tenure as Acting CEO, improving operational performance,
strengthening customer engagement and enhancing business discipline.
Soko brings more than two
decades of leadership experience in Africa's telecommunications and ICT sector.
A qualified accountant, he has previously held senior executive positions,
including Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer roles, across MTN
operations in Zambia, South Sudan, Botswana and Rwanda. He also serves on
several boards in a non-executive capacity.
During his time as Acting
CEO, Soko led initiatives to improve network resilience, enhance customer
experience and strengthen operational efficiency. He also focused on improving
cash management and building strategic partnerships aligned with Eswatini's
digital development agenda.
MTN said Soko has championed
a people-centred leadership approach by promoting accountability, collaboration
and leadership development while strengthening succession planning within the
business.
