The
FEF–Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development (AI4SD) Paris
Conference has officially commenced with a welcome cocktail and dinner that
brought together researchers, policymakers, diplomats and industry
representatives from Ghana, France and other international partners.
The
pre-conference reception served as a networking platform for participants ahead
of the main sessions, providing an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and
exchange ideas in an informal setting.
Dr.
Daniel Adjei, FEF-AI4SD Project Lead at the Institut de Chimie Physique
(ICP)/CNRS, Université Paris-Saclay, welcomed attendees and highlighted the
importance of the gathering in fostering engagement among stakeholders,
particularly members of the Ghanaian delegation.
Ghana’s
Ambassador to France, H.E. Mavis Ama Frimpong, addressed the event, commending
the delegation for their contributions to advancing Ghana’s visibility in
global research and innovation spaces. She underscored the importance of
deepening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and France in science, technology
and innovation.
Also
speaking at the reception, Prof. Jerry John Kponyo, Project Lead for the AI4SD
initiative at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)
and Scientific Director of the Responsible AI Lab, expressed optimism about
strengthening collaboration and expanding research outputs through continued
partnership.
Prof.
Francis Hasford, Deputy Director General of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission
and FEF-AI4SD Project Lead, thanked organisers for their efforts and emphasized
the importance of sustaining collaboration beyond the conference.
The
conference is expected to continue with discussions focused on leveraging
artificial intelligence to advance sustainable development outcomes across
participating regions.
