The International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the World Bank Group have signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) aimed at deepening cooperation on digital policy and
regulation, digital infrastructure investment, and key areas of the global
digital economy.
The agreement was signed by
ITU Secretary-General, Doreen Bogdan-Martin and Sangbu Kim of the World Bank
Group Digital team.
The partnership is expected
to enhance collaboration in several strategic areas, including the development
of digital public infrastructure, support for the green and digital transition,
and strengthening cybersecurity and network resilience across member states.
According to both
institutions, the MoU reflects a shared commitment to accelerating inclusive
and sustainable digital transformation globally. It also seeks to improve
coordination on policies and investments that can expand access to affordable,
reliable and secure digital connectivity.
The collaboration will focus
on supporting countries in building robust digital ecosystems, improving
regulatory frameworks and mobilizing investment to expand digital
infrastructure, particularly in developing economies.
