The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Government of The Bahamas have signed a Host Country Agreement for the World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum 2026 (WTPF-26), which will take place in Nassau from 2 to 4 September 2026.

The forum will be preceded by a one-day policy dialogue and will bring together governments, industry leaders, academia, civil society organizations and the technical community to examine emerging policy challenges and opportunities arising from rapid developments in digital technologies.

The WTPF-26 is expected to serve as a global platform for discussions on the future of digital cooperation, addressing key issues shaping the evolution of information and communication technologies and their impact on societies and economies.

The event will take place ahead of the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (PP-26), providing an important opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to international conversations on digital policy and the future direction of global communications.

ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin and the organization expressed appreciation to Minister Sebastian J.D. Bastian and the Government of The Bahamas for their partnership and commitment to hosting the high-level policy gathering.

The hosting of WTPF-26 reinforces The Bahamas’ role in supporting international dialogue on technology policy and highlights the importance of collaboration among governments, the private sector and other stakeholders in addressing the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.

The ITU said it looks forward to welcoming participants from around the world to Nassau for the forum.
