Kenya is seeking to deepen collaboration with global technology companies as part of its strategy to strengthen digital infrastructure, expand artificial intelligence capabilities and position the country as a regional digital hub.

Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, held discussions with Oracle Kenya Managing Director and Public Sector Leader for Africa, David Bunei, on opportunities to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.

The meeting focused on the growing role of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and sovereign cloud infrastructure in supporting the delivery of secure, resilient and citizen-centred digital services.

According to the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, the discussions highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors in driving innovation and expanding access to digital technologies across Kenya.

Tanui said Kenya is steadily strengthening its position as a regional digital hub and noted that collaboration with global technology companies such as Oracle will play an important role in enhancing digital infrastructure, improving public service delivery and creating new opportunities for businesses and young people.

The engagement also underscored the need for trusted digital infrastructure capable of supporting the country's expanding digital economy while ensuring secure and reliable government and enterprise services.

Kenya continues to prioritize investments in digital transformation, with initiatives focused on expanding connectivity, strengthening digital skills, promoting innovation and leveraging emerging technologies to support economic growth and improve public services.
