Uganda’s
National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) has convened a
stakeholder coordination meeting to advance the implementation of the Real Time
Monitoring Centre (RTMC) National Backbone Infrastructure Connectivity Project,
a key digital initiative supporting the country’s preparations for the AFCON
PAMOJA 2027 tournament.
The
meeting brought together representatives from key government institutions and
project stakeholders to review the scope of the initiative, align
implementation plans and strengthen coordination ahead of deployment.
The
RTMC National Backbone Infrastructure Connectivity Project will leverage
Uganda’s existing National Backbone Infrastructure to provide secure, reliable
and high-capacity connectivity across strategic locations during the
continental football tournament.
According
to NITA-U, the project is designed to enable real-time monitoring,
communication and coordination, ensuring that critical digital infrastructure
is in place to support tournament operations and enhance service delivery.
The
authority emphasized that effective collaboration among government agencies and
stakeholders will be essential to the successful implementation of the project
and the timely delivery of the required digital infrastructure.
Beyond
supporting AFCON PAMOJA 2027, NITA-U said the investment will contribute to
Uganda’s long-term digital transformation agenda by strengthening national
connectivity infrastructure and creating a lasting digital legacy that will
continue to benefit government services and future national initiatives.
