Smart Africa’s Digital
Academy for Youth and Entrepreneurs (SADA4Youth) has been recognised as a WSIS
Prizes 2026 Champion during the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)
Forum 2026 in Geneva, highlighting its contribution to digital skills
development across Africa.
The recognition was
announced during the WSIS Prizes 2026 Champion Ceremony, where the Smart Africa
Digital Academy (SADA4Youth) emerged among the most appreciated initiatives
selected from more than 1,595 digital development projects submitted from around
the world.
The award was received on
behalf of Smart Africa by Thelma Quaye, the organisation’s Director of Digital
Infrastructure, Skills and Empowerment.
The recognition acknowledges
Smart Africa’s efforts to equip young people and entrepreneurs with digital
competencies needed to participate in Africa’s growing digital economy through
the Smart Africa Digital Academy.
Following the award, Quaye
described the recognition as an encouragement to continue expanding digital
skills initiatives across the continent, noting that it marked her second time
receiving recognition as a WSIS Champion. She also commended the Smart Africa
Digital Academy team and Diane K. Bazoza for their contributions to the
programme’s success.
Smart Africa said the
recognition reinforces its commitment to developing digital talent and
empowering young Africans and entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills
required to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusive digital
transformation.
The WSIS Prizes recognise
projects that leverage information and communication technologies to advance
sustainable development and promote inclusive digital transformation across the
world.
