The leadership of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has met with Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss the implementation and advancement of the National Emergency Number 112.

The meeting was led by the Chairman of the NCC Governing Board, Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, and focused on strengthening the country's national emergency communications system through the single emergency number.

The NCC delegation included Engr. Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner for Technical Services; Mr. Gwa Tobbie Mohammed, Director of the Commission Secretariat; Mrs. Niteabai Dominic, Special Adviser on Legal Matters to the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC; and Mr. Shuaibu Swade, Head of Projects.

Also present at the meeting was Lydia Aina, Personal Assistant to the Vice President on Governance Support.

Discussions centred on the National Emergency Number 112, Nigeria’s unified emergency telephone service designed to provide citizens with rapid access to emergency response agencies through a single nationwide number.
