The Communications
Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) will represent the country at the 7th
Ordinary Session of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) Conference of
Plenipotentiaries (CPL-26), scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria.
The conference, which will
run from 23 to 24 July 2026, will bring together telecommunications regulators,
policymakers and industry leaders from across Africa to discuss key issues
shaping the continent’s digital future.
The programme will include
Regulatory Leaders’ Roundtables, discussions on digital inclusion and digital
infrastructure, as well as the election of the next Secretary-General of the
African Telecommunications Union.
Ahead of the plenipotentiary
session, delegates will participate in a Conference Preparatory Committee
meeting from 20 to 21 July to review agenda items and prepare for the main
conference.
CRAN said its participation
reflects Namibia’s commitment to contributing to regional ICT policy
discussions and strengthening cooperation on telecommunications and digital
development across Africa.
The authority added that the
engagement will provide an opportunity for Namibia to support initiatives aimed
at promoting a connected, inclusive and digitally resilient continent while
reinforcing collaboration among African telecommunications regulators.
