Electric mobility company
BasiGo and Rubis Energy Kenya have entered into a strategic partnership to
expand electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging infrastructure along Kenya’s major
transport corridors, supporting the country’s transition to cleaner and more
sustainable transportation.
The first charging station
developed under the partnership is now operational at the Rubis service station
in Sabaki, Athi River. Additional charging sites are expected to be
commissioned later this month in Meru, Nanyuki and Nyeri.
The charging stations will
be open to the public and designed to serve a wide range of electric vehicles,
including buses, vans, trucks, passenger vehicles and other compatible EVs.
Each location is equipped
with CCS2 and GB/T DC 100kW fast chargers, providing compatibility with a broad
range of commercial electric vehicles operating in the Kenyan market.
The partnership combines
BasiGo’s expertise in electric vehicle charging technology with Rubis Energy
Kenya’s extensive retail network and infrastructure, creating a platform to
accelerate the deployment of charging facilities across the country.
The companies said the
collaboration is intended to support the growing adoption of electric mobility
by providing reliable and accessible charging infrastructure along key
transport routes. The model is also expected to support future expansion across
Rubis’ footprint in East and Southern Africa.
