Uganda is participating in the 7th African Telecommunications Union (ATU) Plenipotentiary Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, joining policymakers and telecommunications stakeholders from across the continent to help shape Africa’s digital future.

The conference brings together member states to define the strategic direction of the African Telecommunications Union and strengthen regional cooperation on information and communications technology (ICT) development.

Uganda’s delegation is contributing to discussions focused on expanding affordable connectivity, strengthening digital skills and promoting greater collaboration among African countries to accelerate digital transformation.

The deliberations are also addressing strategies to foster innovation, enhance digital inclusion and support sustainable economic growth through the development of resilient communications infrastructure and services.

The ATU Plenipotentiary Conference serves as the organisation’s highest decision-making body, providing member states with an opportunity to review priorities, adopt policies and reinforce cooperation on issues affecting the continent’s digital economy.
