M-PESA Ethiopia has launched
a new digital tax payment service in partnership with the Amhara Bureau of
Revenue, enabling taxpayers in the Amhara Region to pay their taxes securely
through the M-PESA Super App.
The new service allows
customers to complete tax payments digitally through the Tax Payment Mini App,
where users can select the Amhara Bureau of Revenue, enter their Bill ID and
complete transactions directly from their mobile devices.
Following successful
payment, customers receive instant digital confirmation, providing a faster and
more convenient way to manage their tax obligations without the need for
physical visits to revenue offices.
M-PESA Ethiopia said the
initiative is part of its broader efforts to expand access to essential
services through digital financial solutions and support the country’s digital
transformation agenda.
The tax payment service for
the Amhara Bureau of Revenue represents the first of several planned
collaborations with regional revenue authorities to introduce digital tax
collection services through the M-PESA platform.
The move is expected to
improve convenience for taxpayers while supporting greater efficiency,
transparency and accessibility in tax payment processes.
As Ethiopia continues to
promote digital financial inclusion, mobile-based services such as M-PESA are
increasingly being leveraged to simplify payments, expand access to financial
services and support government digitalisation efforts.
M-PESA Ethiopia said it
remains committed to developing solutions that enable customers to access
essential services through secure and convenient digital platforms.
