Kenya and the Republic of
Korea have reviewed bilateral cooperation in information and communications
technology (ICT) and the digital economy, with discussions focusing on digital
infrastructure, digital skills, e-government and the ongoing work at Konza
Technopolis.
Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary
for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau,
held discussions on the areas of cooperation during a courtesy call to the
Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Seoul, where he was received by Kenya’s
Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Prof. Emmy Kipsoi, and the embassy team.
The discussions also
explored how the Ministry and the Embassy could work together to attract Korean
investment into Kenya’s technology sector and follow through on engagements
from the Global AI and Digital Summit and the Cabinet Secretary’s visit.
The engagement forms part of
efforts to strengthen cooperation between Kenya and South Korea in digital
transformation and expand opportunities for investment and collaboration in the
technology sector.
Kabogo thanked Prof. Kipsoi
and the embassy staff for their warm welcome and for their work in representing
Kenya and supporting Kenyans living in Korea.
