Jumia Nigeria has begun
discussions with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria
(SMEDAN) on opportunities to support local businesses through digital
platforms, technology and logistics solutions.
Jumia Nigeria Chief
Executive Officer Temidayo Ojo visited SMEDAN and held an engagement with
Director-General Charles Odii, focusing on ways to strengthen support for
Nigerian sellers and expand opportunities for small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs).
The discussions highlighted
the importance of SMEs to Nigeria’s economy and explored potential areas of
collaboration between SMEDAN’s enterprise development ecosystem and Jumia’s
digital marketplace capabilities.
Through its technology
platform and logistics network, Jumia aims to help more Nigerian businesses
access wider markets, improve customer reach and grow their operations through
e-commerce.
The partnership discussions
come at a time when digital commerce continues to play an increasing role in
enabling small businesses across Africa to overcome market access challenges
and connect with more customers.
Jumia said it remains
committed to working with institutions and stakeholders to empower
entrepreneurs, promote digital inclusion and contribute to the growth of
Nigeria’s SME sector.
