The Botswana Digital &
Innovation Hub (BDIH) has launched the second cohort of the 2026 MIT–Botswana
Early-Stage Entrepreneurship Development Programme, an initiative aimed at
equipping emerging entrepreneurs with the skills and resources needed to build
scalable businesses.
The 12-week programme,
delivered in collaboration with the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and
Entrepreneurship, was officially launched with the participation of the
Honourable Assistant Minister of Communications and Innovation, Shawn Ntlhaile,
alongside BDIH Board Members, representatives from the Ministry of Trade and
Entrepreneurship, and officials from the MIT Kuo Sharper Center.
The programme will provide
participating entrepreneurs with access to mentorship, training and practical
guidance from MIT faculty and experienced African entrepreneurs.
Over the course of the
programme, participants will focus on validating business ideas, developing
minimum viable products and strengthening their capacity to create sustainable
enterprises.
The selected entrepreneurs
are developing solutions across key sectors including agriculture, climate
resilience, mining, health and digital services, reflecting Botswana’s drive to
promote innovation-led economic growth.
BDIH said the initiative
forms part of efforts to strengthen Botswana’s innovation ecosystem by
connecting local entrepreneurs with global expertise, networks and
opportunities.
