Angola's National Space
Program Management Office (GGPEN) has convened 34 startups to strengthen the
implementation of the Conecta Angola Comercial Project, an initiative aimed at
expanding internet connectivity across the country using satellite technology.
The working meeting brought
together 18 participants in person and 16 others via videoconference, providing
a platform to align participating startups with the project's objectives and
implementation roadmap.
During the session, GGPEN
presented an update on the progress of the Conecta Angola Comercial Project and
outlined the next phases of implementation, while addressing questions from
participating startups.
Participants also received a
presentation on Television White Space (TVWS) technology, which uses unused
television frequency spectrum to deliver broadband connectivity in underserved
and remote areas. The technology is expected to play a key role in expanding
internet access, promoting digital inclusion and creating new business
opportunities.
GGPEN also highlighted the
implementation model for the Conecta Angola Comercial Project and the
opportunities available to startups participating in the initiative.
The project, promoted by the
Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social
Communication (MINTTICS) through GGPEN and its partners, leverages the
capabilities of the ANGOSAT-2 satellite to extend broadband coverage to
businesses, institutions and communities across Angola.
