MTN MoMo and Inkomoko have
graduated 1,225 entrepreneurs in South Sudan following a programme aimed at
strengthening digital financial literacy and expanding the use of mobile money
among small businesses.
The programme, implemented
over the past year, combined business support and seed funding from Inkomoko
with practical digital financial literacy training provided by MTN MoMo.
The participating
entrepreneurs were trained on how to integrate mobile money into their
day-to-day business operations, including accepting digital payments, selling
airtime and providing cash-in services.
The initiative is designed
to help entrepreneurs improve cash-flow management, expand their access to
digital financial services and create new opportunities for business growth.
The graduation ceremony
brought together representatives from key institutions and development
partners, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),
the National Chamber of Commerce, the Mastercard Foundation and the Swiss
Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Speakers at the event
commended the graduates for their resilience and highlighted the importance of
partnerships between the private sector, government and development
organisations in strengthening entrepreneurship and financial inclusion in
South Sudan.
The collaboration also
reflects growing efforts to use digital financial services to support small
businesses and expand participation in the formal digital economy.
MTN Fintech received an
Award of Recognition during the ceremony for its contribution to
entrepreneurship development and financial inclusion.
