Uganda and South Korea are
exploring new opportunities for trade, investment, technology transfer and
innovation as government, business and technology stakeholders seek to
strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.
The discussions took place
at the Uganda–South Korea Trade and Investment Meeting at The Westin Seoul in
the Republic of Korea, bringing together government officials, business
leaders, investors and innovators.
Representatives from
Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and the National ICT Innovation
Hub participated in the engagement, showcasing the country’s growing digital
innovation ecosystem and highlighting opportunities for cooperation in technology,
digital transformation and skills development.
Ugandan innovators also used
the meeting to showcase locally developed solutions, with resident innovators
Lwera Technologies, GovNet, GOGO Electric and Kaara Electric Bikes represented
at the engagement.
Their participation
demonstrated the range of solutions emerging from Uganda’s innovation ecosystem
and provided an opportunity for the ventures to gain visibility among
international investors and potential technology and commercial partners.
The discussions focused on
creating stronger links between Ugandan and South Korean businesses and
institutions, with technology transfer, innovation and investment identified as
key areas for collaboration.
The engagements are aimed at
fostering strategic partnerships, attracting investment and creating commercial
opportunities that can support Uganda’s digital transformation and broader
economic growth.
