Flutterwave Founder and
Chief Executive Officer Olugbenga Agboola has led a delegation to Nigeria’s
Presidential Villa for discussions with Vice President Kashim Shettima on strengthening
the environment for indigenous technology companies and supporting the growth
of Africa’s fintech sector.
The courtesy visit focused
on the role of public-private collaboration and a supportive regulatory
environment in enabling Nigerian technology companies to scale and compete in
international markets.
Agboola said Flutterwave’s
vision is to build resilient financial infrastructure that supports commerce
across Africa and connects the continent’s digital economy to the global
market.
He noted that building
financial infrastructure at scale requires a supportive and forward-thinking
regulatory environment capable of encouraging innovation and enabling
technology businesses to expand.
During the engagement, Vice
President Shettima highlighted the administration’s economic reforms and their
objective of creating conditions that allow indigenous technology companies to
grow into international brands.
Agboola welcomed the Vice
President’s support for innovation and described the engagement as an
opportunity to exchange views on the future of African fintech and the policy
conditions required to support its continued development.
He expressed appreciation to
Shettima for the reception and dialogue, as well as for what he described as a
shared vision for the future of African fintech.
